The New England Cichlid Association (NECA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, is a loose affiliation of fish people who love cichlids. Found on 4 continents, and possessing the most sophisticated and most interesting breeding behaviors, cichlids provide an infinite variety of colors and shapes, and can be as small as 1 ½ inches and as large as 3 feet.
NECA people who happen to live in New England enjoy getting together periodically to discuss and share the fish we love. Whether it’s a spaker meeting, or a meeting at a member's home where we tour fish rooms and eat extremely well, the club gets together to have fun and enjoy each other's company. Because food for meetings, speakers, and other costs are associated with running a club, we charge a $25 annual fee. If you want to attend an event or two, meet club members, etc., there's no fee to check it out, and the majority of the site and Facebook Group page is open to members and non-members alike.
Check us out regularly, and we are confident we’ll start seeing you, or at least hearing from you, on a regular basis.
Meeting Schedule
Meetings will be held monthly with the exception of August and September and will be scheduled each month based on venue availability.
Our club typically uses a meeting rotation schedule including events at a members home, event at a hall bringing in a well known speaker, or some type of fish related trip.
Please check the EVENTS page for information about upcoming meetings, auctions, and other events.
Club Dues
Dues are $25 paid annually, and help to cover the cost of snacks at the meetings, speaker fees and other expenses.
